The Westchase Colts cheerleaders stormed into the 2012 TBYFL Cheer-Offs yesterday at Sickles High School and walked away with their arms overflowing with trophies.
The Colts’ Midget squad completely nailed their routine as the sun set at Sickles. Their mistake-free performance easily earned them first place in their division. Just a few minutes after learning of their first place trophy, the team was again honored with Tournament Grand Champion honors for being the highest rated cheer squad in the entire event.
Coaches Kristin O’Donnell, Dona Smith, Charity Offerman, Shannon Longo, and Bentley Harrison hugged their squad as they raised their trophies into the air.
The Colts’ Pee Wee squad performed an outstanding routine in front of the huge crowd at Sickles. The judges all agreed their performance was top-notch and awarded them first place in their division as well as Grand Champion over their age group.
A well deserved second place trophy was awarded to our Super Midget squad for their routine, although it was not hard to miss the look of disappointment on a few faces as the announcement was made. Every girl performed the best she could and were certainly looking forward to joining their Pee Wee and Midget counterparts in the winner’s circle.
Our Mighty Mites walked away with an enthusiastic and unbelievable 15-way tie for first place thanks to coaches Tanya Guillén, Christy Doran, and Amanda Pilkington.
Although the Varsity squad failed to place in the top three at this year’s event, their enthusiasm and support of the younger squads more than made up for the missing hardware.
